It is a dessert that feels equally at home during festive gatherings, family celebrations, and quiet moments when you're simply craving something sweet and satisfying.

Across India, variations of this beloved dessert are known by different names. Mango Sheera, also known as Mango Halwa or Mango Kesari, is a rich Indian dessert made with semolina, milk, ghee, and fresh mangoes. With its creamy texture and sweet mango flavor, it can be enjoyed as an Indian-style mango pudding that's perfect for festive occasions and everyday indulgence.

What makes Mango Sheera especially delightful is the way it captures the essence of the mango season. Every spoonful carries the sweetness of ripe mangoes, balanced by the richness of ghee and the comforting aroma of cardamom. The result is a dessert that feels both familiar and indulgent, simple yet deeply satisfying.

At Ambika Japan, we believe that food is one of the most meaningful ways to stay connected to tradition and create new memories. Recipes like Mango Sheera allow us to bring the flavors of home into our kitchens, wherever we may be.

Mango Sheera Recipe

Ingredients

* 1 cup rava (suji)
* 1 tablespoon ghee
* 1 cup Ambika Mango Pulp
* 1½ cups warm milk or water
* 2–3 tablespoons sugar or jaggery (optional)
* ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
* Chopped almonds, cashews, or pistachios
* A few saffron strands (optional)

Method

1. Roast the Rava

Heat ghee in a pan over low flame.

Add the rava and roast gently for 4–5 minutes until it becomes aromatic and lightly golden. This step develops the nutty flavor that gives sheera its signature taste and texture.

2. Cook Until Soft and Creamy

Slowly add the warm milk or water while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.

Continue cooking until the rava absorbs the liquid and becomes soft, smooth, and thick.

3. Add the Mango Goodness

Add the Ambika Mango Pulp and mix well.

The vibrant mango flavor transforms the traditional sheera into a refreshing seasonal dessert, giving it its beautiful golden color and fruity sweetness.

4. Finish with Aromatics

Add sugar or jaggery if desired, depending on the sweetness of the mango pulp.

Stir in the cardamom powder and cook for another 2–3 minutes on low heat until everything is well combined.

5. Garnish and Serve

Top with chopped almonds, cashews, pistachios, and saffron strands if using.

Serve warm and enjoy.
