Rakhi strings are string-like bracelets given to loved ones during the Indian festival Raksha Bhandhan. They are given by sisters to brothers and cousins, tying them on their arms with affection.
This one has a peacock feather design in a gold frame in the center, with turquoise and lapis lazuli beads on either side. The delicate rondelles, gold beads, and pearl-like beads also stand out against the red string. The design features a beautiful fine color scheme.
It is a rough string that has just been cut, and the long string is wrapped around the wrist twice or three times to prevent it from sagging, and the end of the string is pinched in place to secure it. You can also tie it like a friendship bracelet.
