How to cook delicious rice (basmati rice)

This time at home, I'd like to introduce you to how to cook rice easily. There are two ways to cook rice: using a rice cooker and using a pot. Please enjoy the scent of freshly cooked basmati rice! ♪

1. How to cook rice using a rice cooker:

Using a rice cooker is very easy. Simply add the appropriate amount of rice and water, then turn on the rice cooker! For basmati rice, the golden ratio of water to rice is 2:1

【Ingredients】

  • Basmati rice - 2 cups
  • Water - 4 cups (for cooking rice)

【How to cook】

  1. Measure the rice, wash it in 2-3 changes of water, and soak it in water for 15-30 minutes.
  2. Place the rice and water in the rice cooker and start cooking.
  3. Once the rice is cooked, let it steam for about 5 minutes before serving.

*Cook rice and water at a ratio of 1:2.
*If you want to make the rice fluffier, you can add 1 tablespoon of oil or ghee. In that case, mix well in the pot before starting to cook.

*Recommended if you want to add a spicy scent:

  • Cumin Whole: 1/2 teaspoon (1 teaspoon salt to taste)
  • Cardamom Whole: 3 grains, Clove Whole: 3 grains (1 teaspoon salt to taste)
  • Turmeric: 1 teaspoon, Salt: 1 teaspoon, Butter or Ghee or Oil: 1 tablespoon

Note: It is okay to cook quickly after thoroughly soaking in water.


2. How to cook rice using a pot:

【Ingredients】

  • Basmati rice - 2 cups
  • Water - 4 cups (for cooking rice)

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of oil or ghee/butter to taste.

【How to cook】

  1. Measure the rice, then wash it in 2-3 changes of water. Soak the rice in water for 15-30 minutes.
  2. Place the rice, water, and salt and oil to taste in a pot. Turn the heat to high. Once it starts to simmer, let it boil uncovered for 5 minutes.
  3. When the water evaporates, lower the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid for 15 minutes.
  4. After 15 minutes, check if the rice is well cooked. If there are still uncooked grains, let it cook for another 3 to 5 minutes on low heat.
  5. Once the rice is cooked, let it steam for about 5 minutes, then enjoy it with your favorite curry!
