Pani Puri is a popular snack and street food in India! "Pani" means "water" or "broth," and "Puri" refers to the "fried dough that has risen into a round shape." Depending on the region, Pani Puri may be called different names such as Gol Gappa (Gol Gappe) or Puchka. This delightful treat is beloved in all kinds of settings, from bustling street stalls in the city to innovative fusion dining tables.

In recent years, Pani Puri has gained increasing popularity at Indian events and in Indian restaurants. Why not join the trend and try making Pani Puri at home using Ambika's kit?

【Ingredients】

The ingredients prepared are (from left) nylon sev, coriander, tamarind chutney, onion, potato and chickpea mixture, pani, and boondi.

【How to make】

  1. Deep fry the puri in oil or cook it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds at 700W.
  2. Mix the pani puri masala well with cold water.
  3. Roughly mash the potatoes.
  4. Add chickpeas to the mashed potatoes, and mix in salt and your favorite spices.
  5. Gather any other ingredients you like.
  6. Make a hole in the puri (use a puri that has cooled down a little). Hold it in one hand and make a hole at the fullest point with your thumb or a spoon.
  7. Fill the puri with the mixture made in step 4 and any other ingredients you gathered in step 5.
  8. Pour the pani made in step 2 into the puri, or scoop the pani with the puri.
  9. Once the pani is in, eat the puri in one bite.

*Ingredients for 20 Puri: 15g pani puri masala & 500ml water
*Recommended Spice Combinations
Combination 1: Red chili powder, cumin powder, and chat masala
Combination 2: Red chili powder, garam masala, and amchur powder
*Note:
If you leave the pani for a while, the crispness of the puri will be lost. Please eat it quickly to enjoy the best taste and texture!

Puri's versatility makes it a favorite in Indian cuisine, whether enjoyed as a snack, main course, or dessert.

[Dahi Puri]

  1. Deep fry the puris and make holes in them.
  2. Fill each puri with boiled and mashed or diced potatoes.
  3. Add tamarind chutney and coriander mint chutney to the puris.
  4. Add smooth, thoroughly mixed yogurt to each puri.
  5. Sprinkle nylon sev on top, if desired.
  6. Season with red chili powder, chat masala, cumin powder, and salt.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  8. Enjoy your delicious Dahi Puri!

[Chole Puri]

  1. Deep fry the puri and make holes in it.
  2. Add chickpea curry, roughly chopped onion, and finely chopped garlic to the puri.
  3. Add coriander leaves on top. You can also squeeze lemon on it if you like.
  4. Using GITS Punjabi Chole makes this even easier.

[Mini Tacos]

  1. Deep fry the puri and make holes in it.
  2. Put taco meat, roughly chopped tomatoes, onions, lettuce, avocado, and cheese into the puri.
  3. Add salsa sauce or other sauces to taste.
  4. Serve with Tomato Jalapeno Chutney.

[Masala Puri] (a puri version of masala papad)
  1. Deep fry the puri and make holes in it.
  2. Add roughly chopped tomatoes, onions, green chilies, red chili powder, and chaat masala.
  3. Add the mixture from step 2 to the puri.
  4. Add salt to taste or you can also use kala namak. Masala puri is ready to be served!
